Here is a recap of what I have been up to :
My own vegetable garden has not done so well this year. In August we usually live off the cucumbers and tomatoes from the backyard. I may just be getting a couple of tomatoes this year from home. I rediscovered our local farmers market, but sigh the tomatoes don't taste like the ones from my backyard.
Once in a while we like to go to Kensington Market. It is a really interesting neighbourhood located in Toronto. My grandparents used to live close to there. When I was little, I remember going to the different markets with my grandmother. We ended up having dinner at the Hungary Thai. Who would have thought of putting together Hungarian and Thai food. I have to say its not the best food I have had but it was fun sitting on the patio and people watching.
Last weekend we drove down to Erie, PA for The Biggest Loser 5K Run/Walk. People thought we were crazy for driving that far for a 5K, but it was fun even though hubby and I both had our worst 5k times (mine was 46:33.7). We also got in a little bit of shopping and headed home.
The day after we returned from Erie we made our annual trip to The Ex (Canadian National Exhibition). The Beach Boys had a concert at the Bandshell. All we had to do was pay the price of admission to get into the Ex and the show was free. Thank goodness we went early. We ended up getting seats 3 1/2 hours early. Sitting in the blazing sun for most of that time was not fun, even though we did take turns going into the shade. The concert was good. I have always wanted to see the Beach Boys since I was a teenager. Two (not sure but maybe 3) of the original members of the group were there. They played all the songs you would expect. It was a great way to spend the evening. Once the sun went down, it was a perfect evening for an outdoor concert.
