Last night we had the prettiest snowfall I have seen in years. Picture postcard snowfall. It was -10 deg C but no wind at all. Around 9 pm, dear hubby asked if I wanted to go for a walk. I immediately said YES. Two years ago if he would have asked me this I would have said "you're crazy!". We dressed warmly and off we went for 4 km and after we shovelled snow (which I might add is a great workout). Not the greatest quality pictures below but I think you get the idea of how pretty it was.
I went to my Weight Watchers weekly weigh in this morning and I was down 4.4 lbs. Remember I was up 5.8 last week. Why is it you can never lose the whole amount you put on the previous week! Our bodies are very sneaky and we have to be careful.
I began to notice a change in our WW meetings at the beginning of this year. We always used to start off with "celebrations". This usually involved speaking up about how much weight you lost, or even talking about non-scale victories. I was speaking to my leader, Cathy, this morning. She mentioned that WW is trying to concentrate more on the behaviours we learned during the week and not asking for "celebrations". I told her I was a little disappointed because it does help motivate me to hear about other member's progress with their weight loss but also declaring my own. She did say we can still say how much we lost, but WW is trying to concentrate more on the behaviours that got you there. Don't get me wrong, I do want to hear what helps everyone and what behaviours get them there, but I guess I am weight watchers old school and like to hear the numbers.
Have a great weekend!
I love shoveling snow, especially some of the big snows we get here in the spring. Good for you that you got out there for a walk.
ReplyDeletelooks pretty and romantic ;).
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your loss.Yay
I would run WW like a online computer assistance team in India. Every time someone in India helps resolve a computer problem with a customer over the phone, they pull a rope that dings a bell and everyone claps in applause. You get that instant gratification for a job well done. Your reward is recognition from your peers. It is a motivator to keep doing a good job.
ReplyDeleteI have missed my WW meetings for many weeks now. I did weigh in for January though. Are they not even recognizing people who have lost significant weight? I think it is important to recognize that a person is working toward goal and say that they've lost 10, 20, 30 or more pounds. Good job on getting a lot of the gain off this past week.
ReplyDeleteI have deep respect for WW, but that's precisely why I go to TOPS. Mostly all we talk about is our personal victories or troubles. And everyone is welcome to provide feedback to every person who wants it. I've gotten so much good advice from other members. We all know each other well.
ReplyDeleteAnd TOPS is very big on recognition. I won a $$ prize last year and special recognition for my yearly weight loss. It felt very special. And I was so proud of myself.

Beautiful Snow, I wish we had some. When I was a meetings member I enjoyed hearing the "celebrations."
ReplyDeleteOdd, we are still making a very big deal about celebrating at our meetings. I even congratulate the members at the scale when I see an 'occasion' and ask if they are going to stay for the meeting so we can celebrate them.
ReplyDeleteLovely walk in the snow. That is a victory for sure. And good for you to be knocking off that gain, too!
I'm a fellow snow lover :)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I was less then thrilled about the new changes. I think they are good for people just starting out but I don't find that much to help those of us who have been around for a bit.
Katrin, thanks for visiting my blog. Good luck with the winter weather! Spring is coming. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm typically not a snow lover, unless I can be indoors looking at it outside, with no responsibility to go anywhere!
ReplyDeleteWW is constantly changing, but I give them some credit for listening to the members. If you and enough of the other attendees insist on celebrations, I'd bet you get them back.
Shoveling snow is SUCH a good workout. I will try to keep that in mind when I have to shovel tomorrow at 5 am. Lol
