We ended up discussing all the other usual changes like weighing food, tracking and more activity. The girls I sit with started talking about weighing ourselves at home. A few of them just weigh in at Weight Watchers and another one maybe once or twice a week at home. I admitted I weigh myself every morning and every evening. In fact, I have done this for as long as I can remember. I can't even imagine just weighing in once a week. They were trying to encourage me to not do that anymore, to put my scale away, or even have dear hubby hide it. I wish I was at the point that the number doesn't mean anything to me, but it does. Its almost a love/hate relationship. Whether I have a good or bad weigh in, it can affect my mood for the day. I know that when I weigh myself at home before a WW meeting, the weight over there will be about 1 1/2 lbs higher.
This may not be the healthiest habit for me to follow, so maybe it is time for a change. So, I have decided to challenge myself this week. I am NOT going to step on my scale at home at all this week. I will wait to find out my weight at Weight Watchers next Saturday morning.
| why oh why do you control me! |
WW weigh in last Saturday: +.6
There is no way I would go a day without weighing myself. I also weigh myself in the morning and again before I go to bed EVERYDAY!! I just want to keep on top of it. Good Luck with your challenge of not doing it.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I way daily! I honestly don't know how I'd feel if I tried to go a week without. Ummmm something to think about.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your challenge - for me, breaking that scale habit was one of the best things I did for myself. No more mood swings based on a damn number.
ReplyDeleteI have some WW friends that are scale addicted as well. I think it is a dangerous thing as it makes us too focussed on the weight instead of the healthy habits and the process. Stress doesn't lead to weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever weigh myself anymore. Mostly just before I go to a meeting where I am goingn to weigh in. I like to know if my scale at home is accurate the ones at the meetings I attend.
Good for you!
I weigh at least five or six times a week but ONLY first thing in the morning. I'm rarely surprised by the scale because I know what I've eaten or what exercise I've done. Since this works for me, I plan to continue. It will be interesting to see how your week goes. :)
ReplyDeleteRome wasn't built in a day and breaking a habit isn't happening overnight either. I think it's great you are trying this. Weigh twice a day can effect your mood too much. I usually weigh myself once a week, twice at the most.
ReplyDeleteYou can do this, you are stronger that the scale.
I weight myself every morning. It too makes or breaks my mood. But it also, right now, keeps me in line. IT works for me right now. I am so glad to see by your post and other noters that I am not the only daily weigher lol.
ReplyDeleteI am a daily weigher too, but it's because I went for a number of years refusing to weigh myself so I wouldn't have to face facts. I don't usually let the number influence my mood, since I now know what kinds of fluctuations to expect, but if I did, I would definitely try to back off. So I think this is a good challenge for you! I will be interested to hear how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI can go weeks without weighing myself. Sometimes even when I'm on a "program" to weigh myself regularly, I forget lol! I guess it's because I know that ultimately clothing doesn't lie, no matter what.
ReplyDeleteHope you're meeting your challenge!
